There are different religions, as Dalai Lama has put it.. "...is necessary because of different mental dispositions of each human being. Each religion has certain unique ideas or techniques, and learning about them can only enrich one's own faith".

Human are the same and also different. We are all human beings, yet we have different habits, different prefrences etc. So different religions are needed. So that we can all find one that suits us better.

The root of all religions are the same. They all preach love and compassion, as I've mentioned the other day. They all want to help people to live a better live, to love everyone, to be a better person.

So if the root is the same, why should the branches fight? Do you think it makes sense for your fingers to fight with one another, wanting to proof which is better? Or different branches of a tree fight with one another? When they are all part of the same being.

Discriminations mainly come from the lack of understanding of their own religion. Lack of understanding of the central value of one's own religion. Lack of appreciation of why there are different religions. Lack of respect for other people and their choices.

Yes, we all want to share what we think is the best with our friends and loved ones. But what we think / feel is the best is not necessarily the best for them. I like photography, you may find it boring. You like maths, I can never work them out.

So, I guess you also need to find out what you are looking for in your religion. What do you want to achieve. Who do you want to be when you grow older.. or when you die. For me, there's also the how do I want to go when I die and where do I want to go after I die.

Anyways...
It's interesting isn't it.

So, do you think you are a Christian?
What qualifies being a Christian?

Me? I'm "trying" to be a Buddhist. Even though in the lay term, I'm a Buddhist. Strictly, I'm far from a true Buddhist...still has a lot to learn, a lot to improve and lots to let go. Hopefully I am slowly moving towards the right direction of being a true Buddhist.

It's interesting. Pluralism in religions.

I suppose with the wedding, it's nice because it shows that you are both willing to accept each other's values and traditions. So that is very very good.

With religion. I guess what to think about is, why?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against it.

I guess I'm trying to bring the conversation to a different level.

In Singapore, the 7 or 9 religions get along just fine. People from different ones go to each others' classes, especially the "reverends" from different religions.

Why?

Why is there discriminations against people with different religions?
Why are there so many different religions?

Those are the questions for you to think about for now.

Yes, I do have some theories about it. Not mine own ones but I believe it is quite right.
